Approved Laws
Over the years of activism, the Curadores da Terra have aimed to ratify laws at municipal, state, and federal levels to ensure the reuse of solid waste for the production of clean materials for sustainable architecture and renewable energy. They successfully contributed valuable data to the approval of Law 12.305/10, a federal law that established the National Solid Waste Policy/Extended Producer Responsibility.
Currently, other legislative projects are under review, such as PL 1269/07, a state-level initiative in the São Paulo State Legislative Assembly (ALESP), which proposes the creation of the Zero Waste Program, Sustainable Architecture, and Renewable Energy. This project laid the groundwork for the Blue and Green Cities Principles (SEVMA/SP, 2011). The same bill is also under discussion in the city of Ubatuba/SP (PL 3412/11).
