Naga 42" Sailboat

Given the progressive increase in plastic waste being discarded into the sea, we began building a sailboat in 1991 (at the Dinieper shipyard, SP) to monitor the waters and explore ways to repurpose plastics! In collaboration with INPE (National Institute for Space Research) in São José dos Campos, we developed a joint research project focused on our extensive Atlantic Coastline. Although the agreement was signed, the satellite data was never utilized, as the satellite's launch from the Alcântara base in Maranhão tragically ended in an explosion.

In 2006, the Naga 42” was transported and anchored at Saco da Ribeira, a natural harbor in Ubatuba, SP, with the aim of establishing agreements with the University of São Paulo (USP) to clean up ocean waste along the Northern Coast of São Paulo. However, paradoxically, challenges grew as government support for such initiatives was lacking, citing increased costs while continuing to transport waste to landfills or open dumpsites.

In 2011, together with the Ubatuba City Council, we drafted PL 3412/11 – Zero Waste + Sustainable Architecture = Renewable Energy.

Ubatuba Verde Sustentável is set to become one of the first model Green Sustainable Cities!
